Porcelain crowns are a very common dental procedure and are used to treat and restore heavily filled, broken, cracked, decayed or root canaled teeth. Our CEREC 3D scanner technology allows us to design, fabricate and fit your new crown, within just a few hours.
Tooth-coloured porcelain fillings known as Inlays and Onlays can also be made using our CEREC technology and are an excellent choice when fixing larger cavities or replacing old mercury metal fillings. For more information please click: (here)
Put simply, a crown is a tooth shaped cap made of porcelain that is custom made and fitted over an existing damaged tooth to hold it together, to prevent further damage and preserve the existing tooth structure. The result is a comfortable, natural looking tooth that can last for many years. Dental crowns can be placed on both the back and front teeth.
At Absolute Smiles, we use state of the art 3D CAD-CAM technology known as CEREC, to fabricate and fit your crown all in one day.
After numbing the tooth and removing decay, old filling material and any cracks, our intra-oral scanner will take a 3D scan of your tooth. This scan is then used by our on-site dental technician to design, mill and hand-finish a custom fitting crown, all within the space of approximately 90 minutes. The crown is then fitted and bonded in place and the procedure is completed.
When looked after correctly, a dental crown can last for at least 10 years or in many cases much longer. Poor oral hygiene, grinding, a high sugar or acidic diet are all factors that can significantly reduce the success and lifespan of a crown.
Dental crowns start from $1690 depending on the tooth and complexity of the treatment required. Your dentist will provide you with a quote once a consultation has been completed.
